[mkiv] RE: Oil Filter Question

 I've used K&N filters on my MKIV and all my other vehicles for years with great results and without any issues at all. I've also seen my old DSM buddies that kept blowing out the oil filter base seal or even rupturing the filter canister on other brands use them with no issues. I first started using them after a local engine builder recommended them. I watched him cut one open to inspect and when he strung the filter media out next to a common filter's (iirc it was either a Fram or Napa brand) I was amazed at how much more filter media the K&N had. They have a high burst resistance, low pressure drop, very fine filtering capabilities, an anti-drain back valve, and a very nice 1" installation/removal nut on the bottom. They do run about anywhere from $10.99-$13.99 as well, but they're well worth it to me.

 

 Btw, the part number is a HP-1002 for the MKIV.
