[mkiv] Serpentine Tensioner

Thanks folks. I was trying to slip the belt over the alternator pulley as that looks the easiest and using a long bar but the tensioner would not depress far enough. Does the damper have to be removed to get some extra travel or something? It does seem like you need a lot of force to get the tensioner to move.
I will try this next with the fan blade removed - it's too awkward at the moment with that in the way.
Thanks
Glen

Interesting...I usually use a socket along with a long
bar so it is easy to get the leverage.
What has worked for me is running the belt to all the
pulleys and slipping it on the tensioner since it is
smooth.
You may need to push on it a bit more than you have to
get the proper allowance in order to seat the belt
properly.
Hope that helps!
(BTW...I never had to remove the radiator however, I'd
recommend putting a rag around the tools to avoid
puncturing the radiator...which I have done :-0
