[mkiv] Glass headlights

Doing a projector retrofit is the best way to do it. If Toyota didn't have
the huge right side flare on the glass lights, they'd work pretty well
though since you do get a nice sharp cutoff and the light is otherwise well
controlled. A lot of euro code lights have a "Z" shaped pattern, but for
some reason, the Supra lights don't.

The problem with the aftermarket HID's and the Euro glass headlights is that
they have two different sets of optics, which make them nearly incompatible.
That's why the glare is bad with these kits, there are "triangles" of light
coming out the top, and the right side cutoffs blind drivers that you're
passing. More here from an independent lighting consultant who has no axe to
grind:

To do Supra glass headlights and HID's right, you need to do a complete
retrofit using projectors made for "real" HID's, not these "rebased" and
illegal HID's that fit into the 9006 halogen sockets.

KurtC retrofit my glass headlights awhile back using TSX projectors, and
then I put a set of OEM Toyota HID's and ballasts in them. I finally have
HID's the way God & Toyota intended them to be, but it's not a cheap
process.

There are no US glass headlights, they are Euro spec lights. They are
shaped a little differently than the plastic ones, but you have to look
pretty hard to notice it. I doubt most people would see the difference
unless you were looking for it.

I like mine, but they don't work that well with a HID conversion because
they have a BIG flare on the right side, which is pretty obnoxious to
drivers you get behind. Drivers more than one lane to the right will hate
you when you come up behind them. I'm going to disassemble mine one of
these days and re-engineer the cutoff shield to create a ______/---- kind of
cutoff rather

             /
than _______/

I dont know for sure if the US ones have it too, but the glass ones have a
pretty ugly bump on top of the glass cover. Especially if you look at the
car from the side it looks quite disturbing IMO.
