Ever wonder what is the difference between the Japenese Supra and US Supra?   Here is the list:

 Engine:

Both US and Japan use the same engine on Supra. The difference? HorsePower!!!  US Supra recieved a healthy boost of hp to 320 compared to the Japnese Supra of only 280hp.   The reason for the difference in hp is due to gov't regulation.  In Japan, all domestic car may not excced the limit of 280hp no matter what size of engine or displacement.  In US we dont have such regulation, as long the car will pass the emission and safety regulations it dosent matter what hp you are making.  However, we may have a more powerful Supra, it does not mean our car is faster then the Jap one.   the fact is both car has same or more amout of torque then US. Which means? same acceleration or better then US spec.

Transmission:

What can I say, Japenese always has better stuff then we do.  Even tho both offer 6-sp mt, the Japenese model got this cool new toy.  It's call 4-sp ATi with shift on fly system.  It is the same system that is use in current Lexus GS 400.  Auto Transmission that can be shifted via button on steering wheel.  cool huh.....gate.jpg (20538 bytes)

Others:

There are more stuff we dont have in our US Supra like, active aero system(active front lip) REAS or Relative Absorber System(auto damping adjusting shocks, the harder you turn the harder the damping cool...), and what else........what else.....oh yeah....Jap Supra also has a boost gauge standerd....but that's not too important....
